Classes at the Red House Gallery
Intro to Watercolor Monotype
To Be Announced
In the first of 4 workshops students will be introduced to the magic of Monotype Printmaking. The monotype process allows an artist to transfer a one-off image from one surface to another, creating a unique print!
In the first workshop you will be shown how to paint your vision freely on a plate, such as Plexiglas, then transfer it to paper. You will learn how to prepare a surface, apply watercolors to the surface, and how to transfer the watercolor to paper through the use of a roller. Monotype images may be abstract or realistic and are always filled with an enchanting element of surprise.
In future classes, students will be guided through a series of monotype techniques including stenciling and stamping, in addition to reductive mark-making. At the end of each 3-hour session you will have created at least one beautiful watercolor monotype print.
Bring your ideas, designs or photos to class. All materials and tools are included. No drawing or painting experience necessary to produce a remarkable piece.
The instructor is Lisa Steffens, a SVFAL member, and a former art teacher at both high school and college levels. Her teaching and monotype experience will help you to make new discoveries in your artistic expression.
FEE: $60 per class, includes supplies
*No refunds issued for cancellations 14 days or less from the start of the course.
